Another year already? Wow. It seems like it was just January just a few months ago and yet here we go again. Is it just me or is time moving faster? Ready to make all those same, old resolutions all over again? Lose weight, exercise more. Do better… Last January I challenged you about the confusion over trying to accomplish too much in one day and too little in one year. I told you how we all try to do too much, more than we couldn’t ever humanly accomplish in a day and how demotivating it can be for us. And too often because of the defeat of not getting our daily amount of overwork completed we underwork the rest of the year. I know it sounds confusing. This year let’s do something radically different. What if we made an intentional effort to focus on just one thing this year? Just one. One thing that we would pour our hearts into. All of our time and energy. With that kind of effort, I bet we could accomplish quite a bit. Did you realize that is exactly what the wise men did? When they saw that star in the heavens, they focused solely on it. Some scholars think that they watched that star for two years, and then followed it to see where it would take them. Talk about focused dedication. Imagine for two years staying on track with one agenda. And then spending months on end to find the one they were seeking. I promise you by the time they got to where they were going they had a whole new perspective on that star and the new king. This year I want to challenge you to skip all those resolutions and just make one commitment with me. Let’s be like the wise men. Let’s focus all our time and energy on one thing. Let’s spend this year focused on seeking after God. That’s it. Not 100, or 50, or 25 or 10 or even 5 resolutions. Just one single commitment. To seek after God, with all our being for the next year. All our time. All our energy. Know where that will take us? Same place it took the wise men. It will take us on a Life Journey with Jesus. Will you join me? Will you walk with me this next year, focused on seeking after God and God alone? I promise you, if you spend the next year seeking after God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, by this time next year your life will be so radically changed. Why? Because God has promised us that when we seek after Him with our whole heart, we will find Him. And when we find Him, he changes our lives forever. Will you be a wise man? Wise men still seek Him…
