Have you ever lost your keys, cell phone or wallet? Or anything else incredibly important? At one time or another we’ve all laid something down, and then lost track of it. It happens. It’s life. We all do it. It’s not an age issue, it’s a humanity issue. As people we lose track of things.But, did you ever lose something that you didn’t even know you had? Now there’s an interesting thought. So, can you lose something that you never knew you had? But what if you were supposed to have it, it was yours by right and privilege, but you didn’t know these things. Then you could lose something that was yours, and not even know you lost it, right? Most all of us have heard of Identity Theft. That is when someone gets a hold of your personal financial information and uses it for their own personal pleasure. And the result is always to our harm. It happens all the time. But did you know that there is a spiritual form of identity Theft? There is and it happens all the time.As believers in Jesus, the Apostle Paul tells that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus (Eph 1:3), and yet too often we live so far beneath the position and stature that we should know as children of God. Why? Spiritual Identity Theft. When Adam and Eve chose to go against God and sin they gave away their spiritual inheritance. When we come to Jesus, we regain that inheritance, but too often we don’t know it or live like it. And the result is we live as victims of Spiritual Identity Theft. In Christ we are redeemed, renewed, reconciled, restored. We are healed, adopted, guarded sealed. We are loved, desired, provided for and have an eternal inheritance. In Christ, we are all this and more. Our identity is wrapped up in Jesus Christ. It’s time for the church to take off the blinders to see who we are in Christ, and then to live fully in that knowledge. It’s time to regain our Spiritual Identity in Jesus Christ.
