What is the toughest thing that you have ever tried to get your head around? You know what I mean - those things that should be simple - you know the 'no brainer' stuff, but still has that incredibly difficult aspect to it. I talking about the kind of stuff that messes with your brain, and the more you think about it - the more it messes with you!

     I had a friend tell me the toughest thing he ever had to grapple with was when he was in seminary. I thought it had to be Greek or Hebrew, you know, one of those langauges that doesn't just roll off you tongue. Or maybe memorizing all the kings of the Old Testament in order - actually I can't imagine why that would ever be useful on my job on Monday morning, but I'm sure it's important to someone. After all my best, but useless, guesses he told me his greatest mental dilemma. "When Jesus was a baby, did he poop his diapers, and if he did, who changed the diapers of the creator of the universe?"

     On the surface the answer seems simple. Sure, he was a baby - its a baby thing - babies poop in their diapers. Everybody knows that. But then the brain cramp began to set in... Wait, He's God and that can't be. God doesn't need anything. But the word says that he was made in the likeness of man; just like us; one of us; exactly like us. And yet still the creator of the universe. My head hurts... This means he was as every bit human as the next person you meet. Even more, as human I am.

     This has huge meaning for us as we have a God who fashioned us by hand and then took on human hands to know exactly what it means for us to handle living this life. The ups and the downs, the joys and sorrows of living and even the deepest of hurts imaginable. The good, the bad and the ugly. He knows us. He knows us. Say it with me. He knows me. . . And still chooses to love me. . .

     Now that's enough to give anyone a headache.
